The Student Laptop Scheme
To enable students to take full advantage of the Sixth Form Digital Classroom, they will require their own touchscreen laptop which meets a minimum specification (hyperlink to page with details). This can be purchased independently, but we are also pleased to be able to offer you the opportunity to purchase a laptop which meets the required specification.
Laptop Minimum Specification
Screen | A touchscreen device is required. The screen should be at least 10” in size |
Processor | Minimum 2 core processor |
RAM | Minimum 4GB RAM |
Local storage | Minimum 60GB |
Keyboard and pen | The device must have a physical keyboard- either fixed or detachable. A pen or stylus is also essential. |
Camera | A Front Camera is essential and a Back Camera is Recommended. |
Battery life | The battery must last the length of the School day on a single charge |
Anti-virus | Anti-virus software must be installed and kept up to date |
Wireless connectivity | Dual band 820.11a/b/g/ac/n |
Operating system | Windows (10 or 11) is recommended as K.E.S. is a Microsoft School, so teachers and students will be using Microsoft software in lesson. If other operating systems such as iOS, Chrome OS or Android are used, they should be the most recent version and be compatible with the Office package. |
Office software | All students have a subscription to Office 365 through their kes.net email address. This will allow them to download the desktop apps on their device for free. |
Accessories | In ear headphones for use in class and a power bank for emergency charging are recommended. A range of accessories can be purchased in the online store. |
